Snowmobilers give lift to special needs students
Dec. 8/11: By Jennifer Gray/Tribune Staff WELLAND — Special needs students can do anything others can do.
They just need the chance.
Welland Snowmobile Club decided more than 20 years ago it would help give them that chance.
"Children always touched our hearts," club president Mary-Lou Juhasz said. "(Many other charities) get tons of donations, but schools don't."

Seeking a vision of the future
Dec. 8/11: By JESSE STOCKTON/Sparked WELLAND — I was sitting on a bench at a local Welland park.
There was a swift cold breeze on an otherwise darn near perfect November afternoon. I was talking with a friend, but not really listening to anything she was saying.
I cared what she had to say, but my thoughts just seemed to be elsewhere.
I periodically mentioned to her about Eastdale's Spark program. This unique pilot project aims to help improve the academic and physical lives of a select group of Eastdale students.
Suddenly she said something that really grabbed my attention: "So, what is your favourite part about the Spark program?"
